Where this comes from: This model applies a simplified tax estimate, a household expenditure benchmark and an interest rate buffer above the rate you enter. Every lender assesses differently — results are estimates and not a lending decision, pre-approval or offer.

How this calculator works

This calculator produces an indicative borrowing range using a simplified serviceability model: income after tax, benchmark living expenses, existing commitments and an interest rate buffer.

Assumptions

  • An assessment buffer is added to the rate you enter, with a minimum assessment floor
  • Living expenses use a benchmark if your figure is lower than the benchmark
  • Credit card limits are treated as a monthly commitment, not the balance owing
  • Lenders use their own policies, so real outcomes vary between lenders

Results are estimates for educational purposes and are not a lending decision, an approval or an offer of credit.
